Der Farbort ist eine Koordinate im sog. CIE-Dreieck. <a href="http://www.cie.co.at/cie/">CIE</a> ist die <b>Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage</b> (dtsch. Internationale Beleuchtungskommission). Die CIE ist eine Non-Profit Organisation, die sich Standartisierung (ISO, IEC, CEN) und Informationsaustausch in der Beleuchtungsbranche zur Aufgabe gemacht hat.

Das CIE-Dreieck ist ein 1976 festgelegter Farbraum. In ihm finden sich alle theoretisch sichtbaren Farben. Mittels Koordinaten kann jede beliebige Lichtfarbe eindeutig angegeben werden.

Alle Spektralfarben liegen im Randbereich des CIE-Dreiecks.

Wenn die XYZ-Werte einer Wellenlänge bekannt sind, können diese in CIE-Koordinaten mit Hilfe folgender Formel umgerechnet werden:


X = x / x+y+z
Y = y / x+y+z

The colour location is a coordinate in the so-called CIE-triangle. CIE is the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (engl. International Illumination Commission). The CIE is a non-profit organisation which has made standardization (ISO, IEC, CEN) and the exchange of information in the area of illumination their business.

The CIE-triangle is a 1976 determined colour space. In it all theoretically visible colours can be found. By means of coordinates any definite colour of light can be indicated.

All spectral colours lie in the border area of the CIE-triangle.
